HANTEN. Pouch
The "HANTEN. Pouch" is a gadget pouch made from the sturdy, richly textured fabric long used for traditional hanten work jackets. The vivid outer fabric and the hitoe sashiko weave of the lining harmonize beautifully, creating a tool case in which function and aesthetic sensibility coexist.
The body of the pouch is gusseted, so PC peripherals, a mouse, a pocket Wi-Fi router, or a charger all fit with room to spare. The opening is closed with a zipper, and an interior pocket for small items keeps USB drives, SD cards, earphones and other small pieces neatly organized.
The material is a substantial 100% cotton fabric, with cotton batting sandwiched inside for excellent cushioning that protects your precious gadgets from impact.
The exterior is available in four colors drawn from Japan's traditional palette: AI (indigo), KIHADA (amur cork tree yellow), BENGARA (red ochre), and FUKAMIDORI (deep green) — each both deep and vivid, adding a touch of beauty to everyday life.
The hitoe sashiko used for the lining is a thick, durable fabric woven from alternating cotton threads, once used for firefighters' hanten and today for martial arts uniforms as well. The bold, raised relief of the sashiko thread creates a texture that is a pleasure to both the eye and the hand.
The beauty of this lining is inspired by uramasari, the uniquely Japanese aesthetic of lavishing care on the parts that are least visible. Each time you use it, that glimpse of the interior reveals a quiet playfulness and the artisan's dedication.
