HANNOREN. Work Apron

"HANNOREN." is a functional work apron with slits that evoke the noren, the traditional Japanese doorway curtain. Made with the same fabric and techniques used to craft noren, it is highly resistant to stains and abrasion, and with its multi-functional pockets that hold a variety of tools and its slit design that allows for easy movement, it is ideal for DIY projects and garden work. A "han-noren" (half noren) is shorter than a regular noren, serving to "reveal the inside of the shop" — and HANNOREN. carries that same role, keeping the tools you've stowed away "organized and in view."

Keeping intact the fabrics and techniques long used on the workshop floor where noren are made, we set out to create a piece that slips naturally into modern work and daily life. The pockets around the waist and the slits designed for freedom of movement fit right into "time spent with your hands busy" — DIY, gardening, and more.

Just as a han-noren divides a space while offering a faint glimpse into the back of a shop, HANNOREN. is an apron conceived for that exact space between "putting away" and "putting to use."
