Care Instructions

Leather finish
oceano products are made with vegetable-tanned oil leather. Because genuine leather is used, you may find scars or slight unevenness in color; please understand these as part of the leather's character.
Since the leather has a dye finish with a natural feel, no protective coating such as lacquer has been applied. Please take care to avoid getting it wet and to prevent color transfer.

Care
The leather used for oceano is an oil leather rich in oils, so oil care is basically not needed.
Wipe the whole piece with a cloth, and use a brush to remove dust from the stitching and the fine creases and folds.
After that, check for scratches and scuffs as well as the corners and other areas that dry out easily,
and if necessary apply a small amount of leather oil (we recommend a plant-based product such as Rapanui... — Lanapar Leather Treatment or similar plant-based treatment).
Please note that applying too much oil can cause color transfer, loss of shape, and a clouding of the leather's surface.
The best care for oil leather is simply using it. Hold it in your hands and enjoy how its character changes moment by moment with daily use.

If it gets wet
Water on leather can cause loss of shape and color transfer.
Wipe the surface water off with a cloth, dry the piece in the shade in a well-ventilated place, and once dry apply a thin coat of oil all over before using it again.
Tannin-tanned leather is pliable, so it will dry holding whatever shape it had while wet.
When drying in the shade, keep the piece in as neat a shape as possible. For bags, stuffing them with a rolled-up towel or newspaper to hold their shape is also effective.
Dye-finished leather is especially prone to color loss when wet.
If it does get wet, be mindful of color transfer and take care not to rub it against clothing or other items.
