Hanabi Majo Blue Plate

A glass-and-urushi plate depicting the brilliance of fireworks blooming in the night sky, set against a deep Majo blue ground. The firework patterns, built up from layers of gold and silver powder, are rendered using the maki-e technique.

The way the color settles differs slightly from piece to piece. Its expression also changes with the quality and angle of the light.

Beyond the transparent glass, you can see the deep blue urushi and the fine gold and silver lines of the fireworks. Because the surface is glass, it resists scratching even when used with knives and forks, and it is dishwasher safe.

The tone of the urushi shifts little by little over time. This aging is part of the character of urushi.

Available in three sizes: S, M, and L.
