Autumn Leaves and Flowering Grasses on Deep Purple - Kimono Aloha Shirt

Made by Wataya

A "Hinomoto Aloha" shirt crafted by Ningyo no Wataya in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture. Rather than remaking an old kimono, it is tailored from a new bolt of kimono cloth. The kimono's pattern is reimagined as an aloha shirt you can wear every day or on your travels. It can be washed at home, so care is simple.

The pattern features autumn leaves, grasses and flowers. Across a deep purple ground, bamboo grass leaves and red and yellow-green blossoms spread out, dotted with round ornamental balls trailing tassels. Fine white lines link the whole design together in a gentle flow, and the pale colors that stand out against the deep purple lend a composed kind of splendor.

The material is a polyester cloth of the kind used for high-grade kimono. It feels like silk, stands up to water, resists wrinkling, and is highly durable. Because the cloth is new, there is none of the fading or staining found on old kimono.

Unisex, with a relaxed fit. Size XL, suited to a chest measurement of 103–110 cm.

The sewing is done by hand by artisans within Tochigi Prefecture. From cutting the cloth to the final finishing there are as many as 10 steps, and only one shirt can be sewn in a day. The buttons are made of lustrous Japanese bamboo.

Perfect for strolling through town, sightseeing, or resort wear. Easy to pair with trousers or shorts, it is also a great choice for everyday wear. Do experience for yourself a high-quality kimono aloha shirt made by artisans.
