Hinomoto Aloha by Wataya

Plum, Peony and Chrysanthemum - Kimono Aloha Shirt

Made by Wataya

This is a shirt from the "Hinomoto Aloha" line, crafted by Ningyo no Wataya in Moka City, Tochigi Prefecture. Rather than remaking an old kimono, it is tailored from a new bolt of kimono cloth. Kimono patterns are reimagined as an aloha shirt you can wear every day or on your travels. It can be washed at home, so care is easy.

The pattern features fans with plum blossoms, peonies, and chrysanthemums. Green fans spread across a vivid orange ground, and within and around them bloom large peonies and chrysanthemums along with white plum blossoms. The gorgeous colors and patterns are sure to brighten the wearer's mood.

The material is a polyester bolt of the kind used even for high-grade kimono. It feels like silk to the touch, resists water, wrinkles little, and offers excellent durability. Because the cloth is new, there is none of the fading or staining found on old kimono.

Unisex and generously cut. Size L, suited to a chest measurement of 96–102 cm.

The sewing is done by hand by artisans within Tochigi Prefecture. From cutting the cloth to the finishing touches there are no fewer than 10 steps, and only one shirt can be sewn in a single day. The buttons are made of lustrous domestic Japanese bamboo.

Perfect for strolling the city, sightseeing, or a resort getaway. It pairs easily with trousers or shorts and is equally at home as everyday wear. Do experience for yourself a high-quality kimono aloha shirt made by artisans.
